Golf: Fredrick Jacobsen the Sweden leads HSBC Champions by two
From the third round with the lead, Fredrik Jacobson Swedish keep mistakes to a minimum, threw into the long birdie rolled on holes consecutive and wound up with a 5-under 67 and ahead by two shots. It was enough to shake a leader board in the World Golf Championship HSBC Champions in Shanghai, not yet.
Jacobson, beaten by two shots the 54 hole tournament record and was 16-under 200 as he tries to win for the second time this year. As soft as it has been, this is no time to play safe.
Two strokes behind was Louis Oosthuizen, a champion British Open at St. Andrews, who birdied his last hole for a 68.
To join them in the last group is Adam Scott, a former winner of The Players Championship, Tour Championship and WGC event. Scott then had a birdie-birdie-eagle finish to save a 69 and was only three behind.
“A 69 does distract me too evil end today,” said Scott.
Just behind them were US Open champion Rory McIlroy (65) and former World No. 1 Lee Westwood (67) at 12 – under 204, with former champion US Open Graeme McDowell (67) and former PGA champion Martin Kaymer (68) another shot back.
No other WGC this year had as many stars on the leader board in the last day.
The unknown in all this is Jacobson. His only PGA Tour victory came this year at the travelers Championship.
Luke Donald can probably breathe a little. His wife waits for their second child, his Shanghai home maintenance. His PGA Tour winning the year player hopes depend in large part if Keegan PGA champion Bradley could add a WGC to his incredible year. Bradley, was simply a 72 however and seven strokes behind.
LPGA: Momoko Ueda of the Japan had six birdies on the nine back in an 8-under 64 to take a three-stroke lead after the second round of the Mizuno Classic Shima, Japan.
Ueda, the 2007 winner, birdied the final four holes – chipping from the border of green space on September 18 by-4 – to finish at 13-under 131 to Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club.
Sakura Yokomine of the Japan was second after a 63. Mina Harigae in Monterey (67) was 9 Sub.
